Keeping our city beautiful, clean, healthy and safe requires City Workers to make it happen. Those workers deserve a living wage, affordable healthcare and benefits that reward them for the knowledge, skills and dedication they bring to KCMO.

WHY DO WE HAVE A UNION?

Without a Union, Missouri State Law is the only thing that obligates employers to do right by their workers. Unfortunately, current labor laws are weak and do little to protect workers.

Currently, there are no state laws guaranteeing workers paid vacation, sick leave or holidays, health coverage, PTO, breaks, lunches or even wage increases. In fact, without a Union contract, your employer can legally ask you to work 24 hours around the clock with no breaks or lunches! With a Union, you and your coworkers are able to meet at the negotiation table with your employer and work to get better pay, benefits and workplace protections.

Dues are only $20.58 per paycheck. Dues ensure you have a staff dedicated to assisting you with filing grievances, providing representation and to be available for any and all workplace questions or concerns you may have.
